Locke Meredith: Hello. I'm Locke Meredith and I have a Legal Lines Tip for you. Remember knowledge is power, and I want you to know if you're injured in the course and scope of your employment, you have available to you workers' compensation benefits. Even if your injury is your own fault like you chop off your leg with an axe, or if it's the fault of someone else, like say you're driving your vehicle for your employer and you're injured, what are those benefits? Well it will pay for your medical expenses.
It will also pay for earnings that you lose in the event you're unable to work and a doctor confirms that. Also let's say you do chop off your leg. You're entitled to what's called scheduled benefits for that amputation, and if unfortunately you would pass away, your family is also entitled to benefits. You do not have a claim however for general damages. So my Legal Lines Tip from me, Locke Meredith to you is, if you're injured in the course and scope of your employment, you've got workers' compensation benefits.
