LOCKE MEREDITH: Hello, I'm Locke Meredith with a Legal Lines tip for you. Buy UM insurance. Why? UM insurance stands for uninsured or underinsured insurance coverage and it's the only insurance you will buy that protects you in the event you're involved in an automobile collision and the other party who hit you and is at fault has either no insurance or minimal insurance.

Remember in Louisiana, we only require to get a license and drive that you have at least $10,000 in coverage. So if you have $100,000 in injuries, but they only have $10,000 in coverage, you're out 90 grand, unless you've purchased UM insurance.

So number one, buy UM insurance, you can waive it or select lower limits, but do not do that. So the Legal Lines tip from me, Locke Meredith, to you is buy UM insurance.
