LOCKE MEREDITH: Hello, I'm Locke Meredith with a Legal Lines tip for you. Are you thinking about filing a claim or a lawsuit because of injuries or damages or a business loss? Then you need to see an attorney. Again, remember, knowledge is power. And you often can see an attorney at least on the first visit free. Educate yourself. Figure out what the consequences are of the decisions you make.
It's very important as to when you file a claim in a lawsuit. For example, in an automobile accident or injury case, you have one year from the date of the accident to file the suit. If you do not, your claim is over with. In a business claim, or typically a contractual claim, it can range from a year to ten years. It's very important that you know your rights.
